Romano: Club now ‘trying their best’ to sanction deal for ‘magical’ Man Utd star who’s opened door to move

Real Betis are doing their utmost to hash out a deal for Antony before the window slams shut in just over a week’s time.

Manchester United have been open to sanctioning Antony’s exit since his loan spell in Seville came to an end in June. However, the two clubs have failed to reach an agreement due to their differing valuations and expectations of the prospective transfer.

From United’s point of view, they’re adamant about selling the 25-year-old permanently and receiving between £25-30 million from his exit to provide a healthy financial boost following a high-spend summer.

Yet, for Betis, they are unable to meet such demands. Instead, they’re hoping to take the forward back on loan before potentially forking out a lump sum at the end of the season.

Antony’s revitalised form over in Spain , which prompted the press and his new teammats to laud him as a ‘magical’ addition to Manuel Pellegrini’s ranks, means United can cash in whilst his value is perhaps the highest it’s been since his initial Old Trafford switch in 2022.

That can only be done if both he and his suitors green-light his next steps, though. Como reportedly entered the mix several weeks ago to try and gauge the feasibility of signing Antony , but he made it clear he has his heart set on a return to the Villamarin Stadium, where he recorded nine goals and five assists in 26 appearances throughout the second half of 2024/2025.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Betis are ‘still working’ on an agreement that’d see the Brazilian international playing in green and white for the next nine months.

The La Liga outfit, who secured Europa League qualification via a sixth-placed finish last time out, are ‘trying their best’ to make Antony’s return come to fruition.
