Spurs defender set to LEAVE the club for German side ahead of next week's deadline - as Thomas Frank searches for new centre-half

Tottenham have agreed to let teenage centre half Luka Vuskovic join Hamburg on loan for the season.

The German giants, back in the Bundesliga after promotion last season, have been waiting for a green light on the deal from London.

Spurs want Vuskovic to play regularly to maintain his rapid development, they do not want him to spend a season on the fringes but have been wary of cover for first choice pairing Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.

Kevin Danso is next in line and started in the Super Cup final against Paris Saint-Germain when head coach Thomas Frank started with three central defenders, and Radu Dragusin is in the final stages of his rehabilitation from the cruciate knee ligament injury he suffered in January.

There have been links to centre-halves including Piero Hincapie in the transfer market but reinforcements have not been signed and it is clear the 23-year-old Ecuadorian is not on his way from Bayer Leverkusen.

Dragusin could be back next month and Ben Davies , who is still at the club with only a year remaining on his contract, can play in the centre of defence as well as left back.

Having weighed up the situation, Spurs will allow Vuskovic to leave for Germany.

The 18-year-old Croatia international signed from Hajduk Split impressed during a loan at Westerlo in Belgium last season, where he proved a goal threat especially from set pieces. He joined Tottenham for the first time in pre-season and scored in 2-0 win at Reading in a friendly in July but has not been off the bench in a competitive game.

Hamburg face city rivals St Pauli in their derby on Friday, which means Vuskovic could be there to make his debut against Bayern Munich and Harry Kane when they return after the international break.
