Arsenal 's offer for Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie is worth around £45million.

The Gunners have been incredibly busy this summer transfer window, bringing in Viktor Gyokeres, Martin Zubimendi, Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke amongst others in a bid to end their wait for the Premier League title.

While most of Mikel Arteta 's reinforcements have been in attacking areas, the Spaniard is keen to strengthen defensively before next week's deadline and Hincapie has been a name on Arsenal's radar for months.

The Ecuador international has a release clause worth £52m but the north Londoners are exploring the possibility of striking a deal with Erik ten Hag 's new club on reduced terms.

Arsenal have tabled a bid worth £45m for the centre-back which they hope will be enough to secure his services.

It's understood that any deal for Hincapie will determine whether Porto can proceed on Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior.
